Madaba Mosaic Race 2026: Run Among the Landmarks of the World’s Oldest Mosaic City

The Jordanian Marathon Association has officially opened registration for the first edition of the Madaba Mosaic Race 2026, which will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026—a race unlike any other.

It's not just any race

Madaba is not just a Jordanian city—it is the mosaic capital of the world, home to the most famous mosaic map in history, “The Map of the Holy Land,” and the gateway for Christians and Muslims alike to Mount Nebo, the mountain from which Moses, peace be upon him, gazed upon the Promised Land.

Running in Madaba isn't just a sport—it's a journey through layers of history you won't find anywhere else.

The Course

The race features two distances:

• 10 How much: It starts at Mount Nebo and ends at the Madaba Visitor Center
• 5 How much: It starts in the Al-Faisaliah area and ends at the Madaba Visitor Center

Both routes are designed to take runners on a journey through the city’s most prominent historical and religious landmarks, offering an experience that is both athletic and cultural.

Organizers

The race is organized by the Jordanian Marathon Association (Run Jordan), under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Firas bin Ra'ad, in collaboration with the Madaba Municipality and with the support of the Greater Amman Municipality and the Jordanian Athletics Federation.

Lina al-Kurd, the association’s executive director, says: “The Madaba Mosaic Race is not just a sporting competition; it offers a holistic experience that combines physical activity with the discovery of history and culture.”

The race is open to participants of all skill levels—professionals and amateurs alike—from inside and outside Jordan, both men and women.
